This year’s IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar were all about Nike athletes breaking records. I was asked me to create a video for Nike Run Club’s Instagram Stories that would showcase the brand’s sponsored athletes. Their on-track performances were truly epic but unfortunately we couldn’t use any video footage from the actual competitions. I juxtaposed editorial style photos layouts showing their winning moments with intimate interviews captured on iPhones to tell a relatable story about each athlete. It turns out champions are people too.

The biggest challenge of this project was coordinating across time zones with the team on the ground in Qatar. New footage came in constantly and the video’s focus evolved with each day’s events. It felt like I was moving as fast as the athletes themselves and we both came out stronger.
